If you're considering doing house trading because you're looking down the barrel of a foreclosure proceeding it might have occured to you to ask if your mortgage holder will do a short sale mortgage deal as part of your home swap. The short answer to that is, it's possible, but you have to get your lender to approve the transaction, of course. But you know what? If your credit okay otherwise, you stand a pretty good chance of doing a real estate short sale as part of your home swap transaction. Depending on your personal situation, a house swap could be a better deal than buying a short sale house. One of the appealing things about doing a home swap is that the two homes don't have to of equivalent value, and you could wind up getting a real deal. In these scary times I think it's real important to be creative and more important, be flexible when it comes to dealing with mortgage companies and your own housing situation. There are a lot of interesting opportunities out there for dealing with foreclosures and short sales so why not be creative? |
